Mission Statement

The Palos Verdes High School community is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in students’ intellectual, physical and social development. Diverse programs provide students with a learning environment emphasizing research, critical thinking and collaboration to master California Content Standards (CCS). Students gain an appreciation for learning as a lifelong process and apply skills and knowledge necessary for success in an evolving world.

In a positive, all-inclusive, standards-based learning environment, Palos Verdes High School provides all students with opportunities to achieve their full potential as they prepare for post-secondary options. Students are encouraged to become self-directed learners and responsible citizens who contribute to their communities and the school environment. Students will be exposed to research and practices and will be able to access information from a variety of resources.


ESLRs

ESLR #1: Critical Thinker

  • Apply problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.
  • Identify, assess, analyze and integrate resources and information.
  • Transfer learned skills throughout the curriculum and beyond.
  • Use self-monitoring skills and reflection to achieve short and long term goals.


ESLR #2: Collaborative Workers

  • Use effective leadership and group skills to accomplish significant goals.
  • Foster positive interpersonal relationships within diverse settings.
  • Contribute and function in various group roles, accepting individual and group responsibility.
  • Demonstrate competency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.


ESLR #3: Productive Citizens

  • Make informed choices and understand consequences.
  • Respect diverse cultures and individual differences.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior.
  • Contribute time and talents to improve the quality of life locally and globally.


ESLR #4: Self-Directed Learners

  • Set appropriate and realistic educational, vocational, and personal goals.
  • Pursue intellectual, artistic, practical, or physical endeavors.
  • Understand and assess their own learning styles.
