Athletics Packet | Physical Form
At Palos Verdes High School, athletics are an integral part of the high school experience. High school athletics have the ability to unify a campus, and community, as student-athletes take to the field, court, track, and pool in pursuit of athletic excellence. The athletics program at PVHS would not be able to operate without the hard work of our coaches, athletic trainers, teachers, administration, custodial and grounds crew, office staff, and student store clerks. Most importantly, success begins with supportive families at home.
We also are not able to provide a comprehensive athletic program without the generous support of our Booster Club and the school’s Participation Donation program. These donations allow us to pay coaching stipends, operate multiple levels of teams for each sport, provide bus transportation, and enter tournaments and invitationals. I urge you to do everything in your power to contribute the appropriate Participation Donation amount when completing the Athletic Clearance Packet.
Most of the Sea King sports teams currently compete in the Bay League, which is comprised of Palos Verdes HS, Inglewood HS, Mira Costa HS, Morningside HS, Palos Verdes Peninsula HS, and Redondo Union HS. All of our teams compete within the CIF – Southern Section, which has 581 member schools. For each sport’s playoffs, the Southern Section is broken up into a different number of divisions based upon factors like enrollment, league, and geographic location.
Since PVHS reopened in 2002, our sports teams have combined to win over 95 League Championships, 16 CIF Championships, and 4 State Championships. There have also been numerous CIF and State Individual champions in several sports.
Our coaches, counselors, teachers, and College and Career Center (CCC) also help prepare many of our student-athletes for competition at the collegiate level. Checking with the counselors and CCC is a great way to make sure that student-athletes are on track to participate in NCAA athletics, if they are pursuing those options.
Please come out and support all of our athletic teams this year. Our student-athletes have worked hard to prepare for their contests and thrive off of the support that our fans can provide. Be encouraging and uplifting to the Sea King student-athletes, and be equally polite and gracious to our opponents. Let’s enjoy another great year!
Go Sea Kings!
