Dear PVHS Community!

Last week some of you had the opportunity to participate in Challenge Day at PVHS. This experience that some shared in the gym was motivating, uplifting and inspiring . So what happened in that gym and what does it really mean for PVHS?

Our students took a real look at who they really are. We were asked to get real about ourselves, “lose the image” and be 100% “you.” Think of yourself as an iceberg – only 10% of that iceberg is visible. That represents your image.  In the gym on those Challenge Days we were asked to “drop that waterline” and "get real".  With that came lots of understanding about respect, oppression and how we treat each other every single day on this campus.  We also became aware that we are powerful and we can “be the change we want to see in this world.”

How can all Sea Kings be that change?  Easy...with 3 steps. Notice – look at  what is going on around you.  Choose - make a choice about what you are noticing. What will you choose,  and how will you react to what you are seeing?  Act - take your thoughts, feelings, and choices and make them a reality by acting on them. If we all Notice  - Choose – Act …PVHS can be an even more outstanding place to be.

I would like to challenge everyone to do a simple task in the upcoming week.  For the rest of this week and next when you walking in  the halls… pick your head up, don’t look at your shoes… go outside your comfort zone and say hello to at least 3 people you don’t know as you walk between classes.   Just a simple “ hi how are you,”  “hello”  or “ good morning” – pick  3 people you don’t know and  say hello to them as you are walking to class. If you’re feeling really positive, add a high five with your greeting!

Let’s “Be The Change” at PVHS. You didn’t have to go though Challenge Day to be a part of it!  Notice –Choose – Act. Go outside your comfort zone and get real about who you are while respecting others for who they truly are.

Be The Change You Want to See In The World

Notice - Choose - Act
