The 19th Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League (OCIEL) awards banquet, held April 22nd, recognized the individual accomplishments of several PVHS Equestrian team members with 28 awards as well as awarding PVHS Overall High Point School Champion for the sixth straight year.
For the individual class awards PVHS achieved resounding success. In the Novice Hunter Division Freshman Taylor Golden was the Equitation Medal Champion. In the Western Novice division Freshman Julianna Farrow was Champion in Showmanship, Trail, Pleasure and was Reserve Champion in Horsemanship and the IEL Stock Seat Equitation Medal. In the Freshman Hunter Division Freshman Isabelle Collins was the Hunt Seat Equitation and Equitation Medal Reserve Champion. In the Junior Varsity Jumpers Division Freshman Taylor Moore won two Champions and one Reserve Champion and Senior Lauren Heimer was a Reserve Champion. In the Varsity Hunters division Junior Amanda Stefan was the Hunt Seat Equitation Champion and the Working Hunters Reserve Champion. In the Varsity Jumpers Division Freshman Terra Wallace was Champion in all three of the Jumper classes.
For the overall division winners Julianna Farrow was the Western Novice Individual High Point Champion, with PVHS being the Western Novice Reserve High Point School, Taylor Moore was the Junior Varsity Jumper Champion, with PVHS being the JV Reserve High Point School, and Terra Wallace was the Varsity Jumpers Individual High Point Champion with PVHS being the Varsity High Point School. In addition our Novice Hunter riders achieved Reserve Champion High Point School.
Then for Over-All champions, PVHS saw Terra Wallace and Taylor Moore being the Over-All individual High Point English Champion and Reserve Champion, and Julianna Farrow being the Over-All High Point Western Rider - a great accomplishment for our riders.
In addition Clare Burke was awarded the Victor Hugo-Vidal Award following a written and practical test taken at the last show. It represents general knowledge of the horse, tack and animal care followed by a practicum (with the horse) based on the same information. She was awarded a Perpetual Trophy and Monetary Reward for her achievement.

Congratulations to PVHS Equestrian team members freshman Taylor Golden, winner of the 2011-2012 Novice OCIEL Medal Final, and freshman Isabelle Collins, runner-up for the Freshman OCIEL Medal Final!
PVHS had an amazingly strong showing in the finals of the 2011-2012 OCIEL season last weekend March 24th and 25th. On both days the Western Novice riders (Julianna Farrow and Rebecca Tenenbaum) won the School Western Novice Champion Ribbon, with Julianna winning the Individual Reserve Champion ribbon on Saturday and the Champion ribbon on Sunday.
On Saturday the JV Team Riders (Taylor Moore, Lauren Heimer, Brendan Froom, and Nicole Simeral) earned the School JV Reserve Champion ribbon, and on Sunday, along with Clare Burke, they won the School JV Champion ribbon, with Taylor winning the Individual JV Jumpers Champion ribbon.
On Saturday Terra Wallace won the Individual Varsity Jumper Champion ribbon and then on Sunday the Varsity Team riders (Terra Wallace, Elysse Inferrera and Amanda Stefan) won the School Varsity Champion ribbon with Elysse winning the Individual Varsity Jumper and Amanda Stefan winning the Individual Varsity Hunter Champion ribbons.
Our Novice rider Taylor Golden had a great weekend, she won the Novice Medal and Individual Novice Reserve Champion on Saturday and then not only won the Individual Novice Champion ribbon on Sunday but won the Novice OCIEL Medal Final as well. Alongside her was Isabelle Collins, our lone Freshman division rider who had a first place in the Saturday Freshman Medal and then on Sunday was Reserve Champion in the Freshman Medal final along with being Individual Freshman Champion .
Due to the impending rain storm Sunday's classes were reduced in order to finish before the rain. Therefore the overall school results from Saturday' s full length show will not be published until the OCIEL banquet in April 22nd where the final results for the Overall School Champion is announced and all the individual trophies are awarded. |
December 2011 |
PVHS had a strong showing last weekend at The Oaks in San Juan Capistrano , and won overall School Champion ribbons at both OCIEL shows, December 10th and 11th. Saturday’s tally was 464 points, Sunday’s 512. Due to inclement weather in November Friday saw the makeup rounds for the Nov 6th show, the final results saw Taylor Moore winning the JV Jumper Individual Reserve Champion ribbon and Terra Wallace the Varsity Jumper Individual Reserve Champion ribbon, and PVHS winning the overall School Champion ribbon for the Nov 6th show.
On Saturday, the Western Novice riders (Julianna Farrow and McKenzie Baxter) won the School Western Novice Champion Ribbon, and Julianna won the Individual Reserve Champion ribbon on both days. On both days Rebecca Tenenbaum was the Western Walk/Jog Champion.
On Saturday the JV Team Riders (Taylor Moore, Lauren Heimer, Brendan Froom and Nicole Simeral) earned the School JV Reserve Champion ribbon and on Sunday the School JV Champion ribbon, with Taylor winning the Individual JV Jumpers Reserve Champion ribbon on both days.

Isabelle Collins, our lone Freshman division rider won the Individual Freshman Hunter Reserve Champion ribbon along with a first place in the Freshman Medal.
The next OCIEL shows are January 14th and 15th. |
November 2011 |
The P. V. High School Equestrian Team gave a strong showing on Saturday, November 5th and were overall school Reserve Champion with 342 points at The Oaks in San Juan Capistrano. Due to inclement weather the Sunday show could not be completed and will pick up on the Friday of the Dec shows so the overall school results for the show number 4 will not be able to be announced until then.
The Varsity Team riders (Amanda Stefan and Terra Wallace) earned school Varsity Reserve Champion with Terra Wallace winning the Individual Varsity Jumpers Champion ribbon on Saturday.
Western Team riders won both school Western Novice (Julianna Farrow, Mckenzie Baxter) and Western Limit (Mariana Huben) School Reserve Champion ribbons, with Julianna Farrow and Mariana Huben winning the respective Individual Reserve Champion ribbons. On Sunday Julianna Farrow had another strong showing and we won the Western Novice school Champion Ribbon and Julianna the Individual Champion ribbon.
The next OCIEL shows are December 10th and 11th.

P.V. High School, 2010-2011’s 1st Place and Overall Champion School in the Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League (OCIEL), continued collecting winning ribbons competing in the first two shows of the season, Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th at the Oaks in San Juan Capistrano, resulting in first place team finishes for both days.
The 21-member team, made up of English Hunter/Jumper riders, Dressage, and Western riders in Novice and Limit, are competing against 58 schools and hundreds of riders from all areas of Orange County and the South Bay. Other South Bay schools include Peninsula H.S., Chadwick, and Mira Costa H.S.
Due to solid team member performances all around, P.V. won the Novice Hunters Division School Champion ribbon on both Saturday and Sunday, the Western Novice Division School Champion on both Saturday and Sunday, and JV Division School Reserve Champion on Saturday and Champion on Sunday.
Standout team member performances include Julianna Farrow, who won Western Novice Individual Champion on both Saturday and Sunday, Taylor Golden winning the Novice Medal on Saturday and the Novice Hunter Individual Reserve Champion on Sunday, and Taylor Moore the JV Jumpers Individual Reserve Champion on Sunday.
The next OCIEL shows are scheduled for November 5th and 6th.

The Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League (OCIEL) awards banquet, held April 10th, recognized the individual accomplishments of several PVHS Equestrian team members as well as awarding PVHS Overall High Point School Champion for the fifth straight year.
Individual students recognized included Senior Kristin Yule, recipient one of five OCIEL scholarships. PVHS riders also dominated in individual class awards. In the Western Novice division, Freshman Mariana Huben won Showmanship Reserve Champion, Champion in Trail, Pleasure, and Horsemanship and was Reserve Champion in the IEL Stock Seat Equitation Medal. In the Junior Varsity Hunters and Jumpers division Sophomore Amanda Stefan was the Hunt Seat Equitation Champion and the Working Hunters Reserve Champion, and Senior Kristen Yule was IEL Equitation Medal Champion. In the Western Limit Division PVHS dominated with Seniors Kaitlin Huben and Shelby Tsuji, Kaitlin was Champion in Showmanship, Pleasure, Horsemanship and IEL Equitation Medal, with Shelby being Reserve Champion in Trail, Pleasure, Horsemanship and IEL Equitation Medal.
For the overall division winners Mariana Huben was the Western Novice Individual High Point Champion with PVHS earning Western Novice High Point School, Amanda Stefan was Junior Varsity High Point Champion with PVHS being the JV High Point School, Kaitlin Huben was the Western Limit High Point Champion with Shelby Tsuji winning Reserve Champion; PVHS was the Western Limit High Point School.

Congratulations to PVHS Equestrian team members senior Kristin Yule, winner of the 2010-2011 JV OCIEL Medal Final, and senior Kaitlin Huben, winner of the Western Limit OCIEL Medal Final!
PVHS had a strong showing in the finals of the 2010-2011 OCIEL season last weekend, January 15th and 16th. On Saturday, PVHS western teams earned the School Western Novice Reserve Champion ribbon with Mariana Huben riding, and School Western Limit Championship Ribbon, won by Kaitlin Huben and Shelby Tsuji. Mariana Huben and Kaitlin Huben each won Individual Reserve Champion ribbons.
Both Novice and Limit earned School High Point Champions for the day.
PVHS won the School Champion Ribbon on Saturday with a total of 372 points.
Sunday, Mariana Huben was individual Champion in Novice, Shelby Tsuji Limit Individual Champion and Kaitlin Huben Individual Reserve Champion.
Both days the JV Team, consisting of Clare Burke, Amanda Stefan, Kristen Yule, Jessica Nichols and Lauren Heimer won the School JV Championship ribbon.
The overall results from Sunday remain unpublished, to be announced at the OCIEL Banquet in April.

PVHS’ Equestrian team won overall team champion ribbons at both OCIEL shows last weekend, December 11th and 12th at The Oaks in San Juan Capistrano. Saturday’s tally was 401 points, Sunday’s 369.
On Saturday, A strong showing from the JV Team (Clare Burke, Amanda Stefan and Kristen Yule) earned School JV Reserve Champion, with Amanda Stefan bagging the Individual JV Hunter Champion ribbon.
Western Team riders won both the School Western Novice (Mariana Huben, Nicolette Forsey) and Western Limit (Kaitlin Huben, Shelby Tsuji, Hayley Thomas) Champion ribbons with Mariana Huben winning the Individual Novice Champion ribbon.
Sunday brought another extremely strong performance from the JV Team (Clare Burke, Lauren Heimer, Amanda Stefan, Kristen Yule) winning the School JV Hunter Champion Ribbon, with Amanda Stefan once again winning the Individual JV Hunter Champion ribbon.
PVHS’ Western Teams won the School Western Novice (Mariana Huben, Nicolette Forsey) Champion and Western Limit (Kaitlin Huben, Shelby Tsuji) Reserve Champion ribbons with Mariana Huben and Kaitlen Huben winning the respective Individual Reserve Champion ribbons.
PVHS is the reigning champion team in the OCIEL.

Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian Team (OCIEL) Champions P. V. High School again took overall first place team ribbons Saturday, November 6th and Sunday, November 7th at The Oaks in San Juan Capistrano, with 504 points and 447 points respectively.
On Saturday, Jennnifer Noski won Varsity Hunter Individual Champion.
The JV Team (Clare Burke, Jessica Nichols, Amanda Stefan, Kristen Yule) earned school JV Reserve Champion. The Freshman division riders (Michelle Yamashita, Maggie McCarthy, Kerry Spain) won the school Freshman Reserve Champion, and Brendan Froom, competing in Novice, won the Novice Individual Reserve Champion.
Western Team riders won both school Western Novice (Mariana Huben, Nicolette Forsey) and Western Limit (Kaitlin Huben, Shelby Tsuji, Hayley Thomas) Champion ribbons, with Mariana Huben and Kaitlin Huben winning the respective Individual Champion ribbons.
On Sunday, an impressive showing from the JV Team brought a school JV Hunter Champion Ribbon. Brendan Froom again won the Novice Individual Reserve Champion. Our Western Teams again won both school Western Novice and Western Limit Champion ribbons with Mariana Huben winning the Individual Champion ribbon.
