March 23, 2012 - The Boys Varsity Golf Team won both of their Ocean League matches this week.
Tuesday, March 20th, PV Boys Varsity Golf Team played against Beverly Hills at Rancho Park. PV came out strong with Sophomore Tim DeSilva shooting 1 over 36 (Par 35). Followed by Danny Chen 38, Roy Cootes 40, Cameron Reeves 40, and Filip Liepe 41. (195-210)
Thursday, March 22nd, Beverly Hills played us at our home course Palos Verdes Country Club. We defeated Beverly Hills 196-211. Once again, we had outstanding play by Freshman Roy Cootes shooting 2 over par 37 (Par 35), Tim de Silva with a 38, Danny Chen 39, Filip Liepe 40, and Patrick Hulse 42. League standings 6-2, 3-1.

March 15, 2012 - Santa Monica joined us on our home course Palos Verdes Country Club. We defeated Santa Monica 203-214. Once again we had outstanding play by Freshman Roy Cootes shooting 1 under par 34 (Par 35), Tim de Silva with a 38, Patrick Hulse 42, Cameron Reeves 44 and Logan McFarland 45. League 1-1 and Overall 3-1. |
March 13, 2012 - PV Boys Varsity Golf Team played against Santa Monica at Brentwood Country Club. We lost by one stroke (PV 211, SM 212). PV put up a good fight with Freshman, Roy Cootes shooting 1 under par 35 (Par 36). Followed by DeSilva with a 41, Shulman 42, and Chen 44.

March 8, 2012 - The Boys Varsity Golf Team participated in three non-league matches last week and this week.
Wednesday, February 29th, they played against West and Culver City at Alondra Park in Torrance. We defeated West Torrance but lost to Culver City. Team totals Culver City (203), Palos Verdes (211) and West Torrance (214). Senior Cameron Reeves shot a 40 to lead Palos Verdes. Followed by Roy Cootes and Tim de Silva shooting 42's, Logan McFarland 43 and Evan Hibbard 44.
Thursday, March 1st we played a non-league against Chadwick at our home course Palos Verdes Country Club. We fired back a nice win with Freshman Roy Cootes shooting even par 35. Followed by Tim de Silva with a 37, Patrick Hulse 41, Danny Chen and Sebastian Shulman both with 42's. PV (197) and Chadwick (198).
Yesterday, Wednesday March 7th, we managed to pull off another great win against Chadwick at their home course Rolling Hills Country Club PV (203) and Chadwick (209). Leading the way was our two sophomores, Tim de Silva and Sebastian Shulman both shooting 39's, Danny Chen 41, Roy Cootes and Cameron Reeves both with a 42.

February 28, 2012 --- The team participated at Los Serranos Golf Course in the Ayala Tournament yesterday in some tough conditions. There was a Varsity Division & Junior Varsity Division with 20 teams in each division. The Varsity played the South Course which had a par of 74 and the Junior Varsity played the North Course which had a par of 72. Varsity ended up coming in 11th place and Junior Varsity came in 8th place. This was our first competition of the season and we had players who had never participated in a competition such as this tournament.
Congratulations goes out to Roy Cootes, Freshman who played for the Varsity Team and shot a 77 on the tougher South Course. Roy had the sixth lowest score out of a total of 240 players in the tournament, Varsity & JV combined. We would also like to congratulate Evan Hibbard (85) and Sebastian Shulman (86) of the Varsity squad with good scores. Logan McFarland (84), Filip Liepe (84) and Jay Yoo (87) of the JV squad brought in very good scores.
On a good note, Peninsula High School fielded two teams in the JV half of the tournament and the guys defeated both of Peninsulas teams.
This Wednesday, Varsity will be playing a three team match at Alondra Golf Course at 1:45pm. |
