Friday, November 4, 2011  It was a great week for the Girls Varsity Golf Team.  On Monday, we had three of our players play in the Individual Round in Oxnard, CA.  It was a tough crowd that day with many low scoring rounds but two of our three players advanced now to compete this Monday in the 2nd Round of CIF Individuals.  Elizabeth Doty and Mackenzie Perez advanced by shooting one under Par.  Jacqueline Cootes shot 78, missing the cut by one stroke.

Also on Thursday, we played as a team in Solvang, CA.  They took the top 4 teams out of 16 teams total and we came in 3rd Place.  It was a very cold and windy round in Solvang but the PV girls endured.  Elizabeth Doty shot one under 71 (par 72) to earn the lowest round of the day.  Roxanne Matta shot her career best in a tournament round 78.  Mackenzie Perez followed with a 79, Sophie Bergland and Jacqueline Cootes shot 83's, and Natalie Mu shot 87. Overall team score 394 for 3rd Place (1st place 391, 2nd 392). 

Now on Monday, Doty and Perez will continue on to the Individual Round for another shot at advancing in Temecula.  On Thursday, our team will also move onto Murrietta for a chance to enter the CIF State Finals.

Note: This is the first time in history of Palos Verdes that the Girls Varsity Golf Team has advanced this far in the finals.  There are 560 high schools that compete and we are one of four from this divisional to advance.

Thursday, October 27, 2011  The Girls Varsity Golf Team played in the first round of CIF-SS Central Team Divisional at Jurupa Hills Country Club in Riverside. Only 4 out of 25 teams advance and I am happy to say we came in 2nd Place with an overall score of 384. Mackenzie Perez lead the team with a 73, Elizabeth Doty 74, Sophie Bergland 77, Jacqueline Cootes 78, Natalie Mu 82, and Roxanne Matta with a 84. The girls played great and now we advance to the next round which will take place in Solvang, CA on Thursday, November 3rd.

Friday, October 21, 2011  CONGRATULATIONS to Sarah Kim for winning the JV Tournament today at Victoria Golf Club with a two over par 38 from the red tees! We also want to congratulate Maddy Carr who came in 7 th with a 44, Payton Valley who came in 10 th with a 45, and Marie Wilber who shot 48. We are proud of our undefeated JV team! Congratulations to the awesome PV Girls Golf team!

Wednesday, October 19, 2011  Today, we played at Lakewood Country Club for Ocean & Bay League Individual Finals. Our team had a great showing today. Palos Verdes had 3 of our girls advance to the next level of CIF Individuals, which take place on October 31st. Some really great scores but only 9 spots out of 24 from the Ocean League advance.    Elizabeth Doty took 2nd place with a one under par 73, Mackenzie Perez took 7th place with a 75, and Jacqueline Cootes took 8th place with a 76.  Other players Sophie Bergland lost 9th place in a 6 hole playoff with a 77, Roxanne Matta with a 83, Natalie Mu with a 84, and Leslie Robertshaw with a 93. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 PLEASE SAY HELLO TO THE OCEAN LEAGUE TITLE HOLDERS!!! WE DID IT!!!! WE BEAT TORRANCE TODAY AT PALOS VERDES COUNTRY CLUB!! WE HAD ONE OF OUR BEST ROUNDS TO DATE!!! Our Varsity Girls Golf Team defeated Torrance 180-188. Unbelievable rounds by Sophie Bergland shot 2 under par for a 33, Elizabeth Doty and Mackenzie Perez shot 35's, Natalie Mu shot 38, Jacqueline Cootes 39, Roxanne Matta 41, Leslie Robertshaw 44 and Haley Lundberg 58.

Friday, October 14, 2011 To close out the week, Thursday, October 13th, our Varsity Girls Golf Team defeated North Torrance 194-206. Sophie Bergland shot 1 under par for a 34, Jacqueline Cootes and Natalie Mu shot 38's, Matta and Perez had 42's, Robertshaw had 46 and Lundberg 52.

Next week, we will face Torrance for a final round on Tuesday for the League Title and Wednesday we will be back at Lakewood Country Club for Ocean & Bay League Individual Finals.

Thursday, October 13, 2011  This Tuesday, October 11th our Varsity Girls Golf Team posted their "best" league scores ever against North Torrance 183-197. Junior Natalie Mu had a career best even par 36, Doty and Perez also had 36's, Cootes with a 37 and Bergland with a 38.
Yesterday at Lakewood Country Club, we participated in Knabe Cup and took " 3rd Place". Jacqueline Cootes lead the team by shooting 1 under par 73. Elizaberth Doty shot even par 74, Perez 82 and Bergland 84 for a total of 313. Today, Varsity will play another league match against North at Palos Verdes Country Club.  See Daily Breeze article

Tuesday, October 11, 2011  Sorry for the delay in sending this out, our Varsity Girls Golf Team lost their first league match against Torrance by five strokes on Tuesday, October 4th at Los Verdes Country Club. Junior Elizaberth Doty shot 2 under par 34, Cootes and Perez shot 39, Bergland and Matta shot 40, Mu 43 and Robertshaw 46. Total score was 192-187. Wednesday, October 5th was cancelled to due rain and so the match is rescheduled now for Tuesday October 18th at PV Country Club.
Also last Thursday, October 6th we participated in the Debell Burbank Girls Invitational Golf Tournament. Our team took 1st Place with Sophomore Mackenzie Perez shooting 2 under par 34, Sophomore Sophie Bergland shooting even 36, Doty with a 39 and Cootes with a 43.
Yesterday, October 10th we participated in the Ayala Girls High School Golf Tournament at Los Serranos Golf Course. Our team took 2nd Place in the Tournament with Sophie Bergland shooting 3 over par 77, Jacqueline Cootes and Natalie Mu shooting 79, Mackenzie Perez 82, Roxanne Matta 83 and Leslie Robertshaw 95.
Today, Varsity will play another league match against North at Victoria Golf Course and tomorrow we will participate in Knabe Cup in Lakewood.
Another note, our JV is currently undefeated. Yesterday they beat Torrance in a match at Los Verdes Country Club.

Monday, October 3, 2011  Today, our Varsity Girls Golf Team shot their best low round league match ever against Beverly Hills at Palos Verdes Country Club.  Junior Elizaberth Doty shot 3 under par 32, Sophomore Mackenzie Perez shot even 35, Sophomore Sophie Bergland 37, Senior Jacqueline Cootes shot 38, and Natalie Mu and Roxanne Matta 40's to beat Beverly Hills by 70 strokes with 182-252.  Pretty impressive match!!  Tomorrow we face our rival Torrance.  Tuesday at Los Verdes and Wednesday at Palos Verdes Country Club for a shot at the league title.

Saturday, October 1, 2011  The Varsity Girls Golf Team invited Diamond Bar for a non-league match at Palos Verdes Country Club on Thursday, September 28th.   Sophomore Sophie Bergland had two birdies and shot 2 under par 33.  Other players on the team Elizabeth Doty had a 37, Jacqueline Cootes had a 38, Natalie Mu with 40 and Mackenzie Perez with a 42.  Our team just came up short by three strokes 187-190.  This is the same team we beat out at the Triton Invitational in San Clemente just a few weeks ago.  Next week, we will start off with a league match against Beverly Hills on Monday and then face our rival Torrance on Tuesday and Wednesday for a league title.

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 Well we are starting off our week very nicely, the Varsity Girls Golf Team had one an amazing low score round yesterday, Tuesday, September 28th against Beverly Hills at Rancho Park in Los Angeles.  Senior Jacqueline Cootes and Junior Elizabeth Doty each had two birdies each and finished with a one under par -  35's.  We defeated Beverly Hills with a 186-242.  Also adding to our score, Perez with 38, Matta and Bergland with a 39.  We are currently 3-0 for the league and 6-0 for non-league matches.  We will be having a non-league match this Thursday against Diamond Bar at Palos Verdes Country Club and continue with our league matches week against Beverly Hills at home on Monday.

Thursday, September 22, 2011 Well to close out our week, the Varsity Girls Golf Team had another great scoring round yesterday Thursday, September 22nd against Marlborough at our home course Palos Verdes Country Club.  Junior Elizabeth Doty shot 3 under par 33, Sophomore Sophie Bergland shot 2 under par 34.  Also adding to our score, Matta with a 37, and Cootes , Mu and Perez with a 40.  Our team overall shot an amazing 184 and Marlborough had a 265.  Currently, we are undefeated in the Ocean League.  Our next match is next Tuesday against Beverly Hills at Rancho Park in Los Angeles.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011 The Varsity Girls Golf Team had their first League match this Tuesday, September 20th against Marlborough at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles.  Once again, they did FANTASTIC!!  Sophomore Mackenzie Perez shot 2 under par 34.  Junior Elizabeth Doty shot even 36.  Also adding to our score, Bergland with a 39, Cootes with a 40, Matta with a 44 and Mu with a 45.  Our team overall shot 193 and Marlborough had a 273. We play them again today at Palos Verdes Country Club.

Friday, September 16th The Varsity Girls Golf Team did great with a 3rd Place finish in the San Clemente Lady Triton Invitational with an overall team total of 396. Junior Elizabeth Doty shot one over par 74 and Senior Jacqueline Cootes shot four over with a 77. They were 130 girls total and 18 teams invited to play. This Palos Verdes first invitation to this event. Other players from the team Mackenzie Perez with 81, Sophie Bergland 81 and Natalie Mu with an 83.
