Alumni Competing in College
|
We are proud of the following PVHS Track & Field Alumni who are competing (or have competed) at the College level... |
Whitney Liehr (2007) -- Stanford -- Since her 2007 graduation from PVHS as the school record holder in four events, a state medalist in the triple jump, Athlete of the Year, and unquestionably one of the finest athletes ever to graduate from PVHS, Whitney has continued her amazing athletic career in College. As a sophomore at Stanford during 2009, Whitney achieved All-American status. During the indoor season Whitney qualified for the NCAA championships in the pentathlon, finishing 10th in large part on the strength of a 5'10" high jump and a 19'10" long jump. During the 2009 outdoor season Whitney focused on the triple jump, launching a monstrous 43'8" jump to take second place at the NCAA Western Regional, qualifying her for the outdoor NCAA championships, where she finished eleventh. In 2011 she placed fifth in the Women's Triple Jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, again earning All-American status, with a mark of 43'6", then duplicated her fifth place finish at NCAA Outdoors in June with a mammoth leap of 44' 1.25" on her final attempt, the second best women's triple jump mark in Stanford history! |

Alex Giacomin (2008) -- Georgia -- After a remarkable PVHS career full of league titles and CIF appearances in the 400m, 4x400m, long jump, and high jump, Alex headed to the University of Georgia. Initially recruited as a multi-event athlete, he shifted his focus to the javelin and has found great success. In 2011 as a redshirt sophomore Alex placed seventh at the SEC finals and recorded a personal best of 209'4" at the Eastern Regional Meet.
