Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

You will soon be asked to make an important choice about which high school to attend. In January, a letter will be sent from the Superintendent that includes a commitment form to fill out indicating which high school you wish to attend.  Palos Verdes High School will be holding an Open House on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 to assist you in making an informed choice concerning high school attendance. We encourage you to join us on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 for a dynamic evening full of information about our high school. You will be able to tour the campus and speak to many of our faculty members and students as well as counselors and administrators.

Plans for the evening are as follows:

5:45-6:20pm        Informal meeting for student athletes in the MPR. Students and parents can meet with student athletes and hear about our athletic programs. Feel free to attend the club sessions at any point!!

5:45-6:20pm        General meeting for any students and parents who would like more information on academic and extra-curricular clubs. Walk around Senior Park and visit over (50) student clubs, while talking to club leaders, listening to music and enjoying refreshments and PVHS’ lively atmosphere in Senior Park. Students who attend the athletic session may also come to this at anytime!!

  6:30-7:10pm         General meeting in the GYM for ALL students and parents. This meeting will feature a welcome by the principal, student performances, introductory comments, and a video. An overview of PVHS’ academic program will be presented.

  7:15-8:30pm        During this time, there will be four 15-minute sessions offered in a variety of rooms on campus. Parents and students will have an opportunity to listen to presentations on various academic programs and ask questions of the PVHS staff.

7:55-8:10pm: Session #3
8:15-8:30pm: Session #4

We are looking forward to having another outstanding freshman class join us next year. Palos Verdes High School has a committed, dedicated faculty, innovative programs, and a student-centered approach that is highly successful. Our Open House on Wednesday, February 3 will give you a chance to see our campus, meet with teachers, observe our current students and learn more about our programs. A comprehensive listing of session offerings and room numbers will be distributed in the gym during the general session. We look forward to seeing you February 3!!
